WALLA WALLA -- A man has been arrested in connection with a crime spree that began the first part of February and resulted in more than $26,000 in damage to vending machines in the area, according to Walla Walla police.

Randall S. Berry, 29, of 1163/4 W. Birch St., was arrested Wednesday on investigation of first-degree malicious mischief, second-degree possessing stolen property.

Local Coca-Cola and Pepsi distributors reportedly were the primary victims.

A Police Department news release says officers obtained a search warrant for Berry's apartment after a lengthy investigation and with the assistance of the city's Code Enforcement Office.

Officers allegedly found files, a modified screwdriver, pry bar and newspaper vending machines from the Union-Bulletin and Wall Street Journal, the news release says. Berry was not home when the search warrant was served.

Officers found him at his residence about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday. He was arrested without incident and booked into the County Jail after providing information to assist in the investigation, according to the news release.
