TOUCHET - Touchet's Indians came out ahead, 2-1, in a non-league softball matchup against Weston-McEwen here Thursday afternoon.
Pitchers Stephanie Samuels and Megan Reed held the TigerScots to just three hits.
The lone TigerScots score came off a hit by Haley Freske, who drove in Karly Graves early in the second inning.
Touchet's Taylor Jasperson smacked a double to bring in Zoe Weaver and Nicole Brown, after both stole bases.
"That hit was really clutch for us," said Touchet coach Gary Dorman. "It was a great, well-played game."
The victory brings Touchet to 2-0 for the season.
Weston-McEwen is now 1-1.
"That was a well-contested game for so early in the season," said TigerScots coach Jeff Griggs. "Both teams kept the errors to a minimum. I was happy to have a couple of good pitchers who did well."
Pitcher Graves hadn't intended to pitch this season, but stepped in when she was needed, Griggs said.
"I thought she did great," he said.
Dorman said pitching by both teams was good.
"Both sides were excellent," Dorman said. "It makes it a lot easier with girls who throw strikes."
Touchet plays in the Walla Walla Jamboree against Wa-Hi and DeSales beginning at noon Saturday.
Weston-McEwen plays Mac-Hi at 1 p.m. Saturday at Milton-Freewater.
