Crowds expected at he Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Expo & Home Show

One of Dan Mallery's Simonton Windows - which carry the industry's only double-lifetime warranty - looks out on the 2010 Business Expo and Home Show. Mallery's business, Windows Walla Walla, was one of many businesses set up under the WWCC Dome Saturday morning.

WALLA WALLA - Close to 60 vendors will show off their goods and services today for what is expected to be close to 3,000 visitors at the Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Expo & Home Show.

Among the new business participating in the three-day event are two sports-related enterprises: The Walla Walla Sweets baseball team and the Wine Valley Golf Club, a links golf course located near Lowden.

In the past the Expo has attracted close to 70 vendors; though the numbers of participants may be down slightly this year, Chamber CEO Dave Warkentin said, don't assume that business is down for everyone.

According to Warkentin, a small number of Chamber members reported that 2009 was a record year for their businesses. He added the Chamber also had a record number of memberships at 821.

"Just like other businesses, we are figuring out a way to hit our numbers," Warkentin added.

The Business Expo & Home Show takes place today from 12-4 p.m. at Walla Walla Community College Dietrich Dome. Cost is $2 and includes raffle tickets. Children 12 and under are free.
