Activities and weekly lunch menus at area senior centers

Activities offered daily at The Center at the Park, 720 Sprague Ave., include pool and cards from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. A complete listing of center activities, classes and health and welfare programs may be found in the center's monthly newsletter. The annual center membership fee, $12 per person, includes a subscription to it. Spanish is spoken at the Center. Adult day care is provided 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Senior Round Table Luncheons are served weekdays at noon at The Center. For more information call 527-3775. Bread and milk are served with all meals and a salad bar is available Monday-Friday. This week's menu is:

Monday: Springtime mac and cheese, green beans, spinach salad, bread, peaches.

Tuesday: Swiss steak with tomato sauce, broccoli Normandy, Tater Tots, fruit juice or salad, bread, tricky apple dessert.

Wednesday: Baked breaded fish, winter squash, spinach salad, roll, pears.

Thursday: Turkey noodle casserole, peas & carrots, cole slaw, fruit juice, cornbread, pudding.

Friday: Split pea soup, cabbage/carrot salad, fruit juice, biscuit, fruit cobbler.

Lunch is served at Waitsburg Presbyterian Church, 504 Main St., Waitsburg on Tuesdays. Home-delivered meals available. Questions: call 527-3775

Milton-Freewater and Weston seniors can enjoy hot lunches and socialize at the senior centers in Milton-Freewater and Weston. Activities are offered 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays at the Milton-Freewater Senior Citizens Center, 311 N. Main St. Hot lunches are served at noon on Tuesdays and Fridays. Bingo is 1 p.m. every Tuesday and pinochle is 7 p.m. every Friday. The Weston Senior Citizens Center on Main Street is open for social time and a hot lunch is served at noon on Wednesdays.

The suggested donation is $3.50 for meals for those 60 and older or children under 8; and $6 for those 59 and younger. Bread and milk are served with all meals. The menu for Milton-Freewater is:

Tuesday: Country style pork BBQ spareribs, scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, biscuits, apple sauce cake, milk.

Friday: Taco salad: chips cheese refried beans and ground beef, corn, fruit cup, tomatoes, onions and lettuce, tortilla chips, spice cake, milk.

The Weston menu is:

Wednesday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, green beans, tossed salad, garlic bread, peach cobbler.

Seniors of the Blue Mountains and Walla Walla Valley offer a meal at noon Thursdays in the Milton-Freewater Community Building, 109 N.E. Fifth Ave. Hot rolls and milk are served with every meal. The suggested donation is $3. The menu this week is:

Thursday: Baked chicken, potatoes and gravy, California blend veggies, dessert, rolls.
