TRI-CITIES - Waitsburg-Prescott's softball team lost three games at the Tri-Cities Tournament here on Saturday.

W-P played Cashmere, Omak and Granger in three non-league games.

"That's always pretty good competition," said Waitsburg-Prescott coach Angie Potts. "It's good for us to feel out the non-league games. It's a little different look in terms of lineup and it gives us some good playing time."

The Waitsburg-Prescott team is mostly freshmen and juniors, with one sophomore. There are no seniors on the team, Potts said.

"We're a very young team and they're learning to play together," she said.

The outfield came together for this tournament, she said.

"They were outstanding," she said. "They did a great job of throwing runners out and made some great catches."

Catcher Megan Withers also made some solid moves.

"She was 3-for-3 in catching runners on steals," Potts said. "Our pitchers were also really good. Jennifer Nicols is only a freshmen, and both of them were really consistent and did really well."

Waitsburg-Prescott is now 0-4 for the season, all non-league games. They play at Weston-McEwen at 11 a.m. Saturday.
