RICHLAND - Walla Walla Community College's softball team went 1-2 in the Tri-Cities Tournament here Saturday.

"We played pretty well," said head coach Mike Staudenmaier. "We're still playing a lot of kids and trying to figure things out. We did go 1-2, but we played some tough teams."

Walla Walla won the first game, 5-9, against Clark Community College, but lost the next two against Everett and Lower Columbia.

"We're not excited about the record but we're glad that it's starting to click," Staudenmaier said.

Alexis Bobadilla and Natalie Leyland had a good day for the Warriors, Staudenmaier said.

Bobadilla had nine hits and only struck out once, and Leyland hit six. Bobadilla also pitched in the final two games.

"We're playing some very good teams and plugging away to find out what we've got to do before we start league play," Staudenmaier said.

The Warriors play top-ranked Mount Hood today in the tournament before beginning league play in Spokane Friday.
