PRESCOTT - Tri-Cities Prep brought its lumber here Saturday in opening non-conference baseball action.
The Jaguars pounded out 23 hits, including two four-baggers, in sweeping Waitsburg-Prescott, 16-6 and 21-5.
"We're young," W-P first-year coach Dustin Snedigar said. "We're working on fundamentals and the scores don't reflect how hard we are working."
Joe Purdin blanked T-C Prep through the first three innings of the opener and W-P took a 6-0 lead to the top of the fourth.
The Jaguars exploded for eight fourth-inning runs and finished with an 11-hit 16-run attack in winning 16-6.
Dalton Estes, Kevin Raver and Purdin picked up the only W-P hits.
In the nightcap, W-P, behind Zach Bartlow, took a 1-0 lead to the top of the third. Again, the Jaguars exploded for five runs, but W-P answered with four of its own in the home third.
A five-run fourth put this one into the T-C Prep win column and the Jaguars closed the deal with 10 runs in the seventh.
Tre Brannock, Bartlow and Lucan Gerke collected W-P hits in the nightcap.
W-P travels to T-C Prep Tuesday for a single non-conference game.
