LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Details about colonoscopy interesting

I appreciate the newspaper sharing the information on exactly what colonoscopies are about ("Demystifying a procedure that's the butt of jokes" by Dr. Harald Schoeppner), from the beginning to the end (so to speak).

I knew something about them because I've had one, but I didn't know all the details about tattooing larger polyps and the percentage of females versus males who have polyps in their intestines.

The reason I had a colonoscopy was because of a friend who, in his 40s, died of colon cancer. He had a family member who had died of colon cancer but my friend chose to ignore the possibility he might also have it when he first noticed the signs. What a waste. Such a simple procedure for a tremendous peace of mind.
