KENNEWICK - Wa-Hi's girls shot a team score of 474 to place 11th in a 15-school Big Nine Conference pod golf match at the Canyon Lakes course here on Monday.
Richland placed first at the event with a 362.
Kristin Strankman of Richland carded an 83 for the day's medalist honors.
Wa-Hi's counting scores included Kylar Boggs at 110, Brittany Hodgen at 112, Allexa Kaylor at 123 and Larissa Mercado at 129.
"I'm pleased with the way the girls played," Wa-Hi coach Mike Paterson said. "We have a lot of inexperience, but we're continuing to improve. The girls are working hard. Canyon Lakes is a difficult course, especially if you haven't played it before, with greens that are difficult to read.
"If we continue to improve, we can finish in the top six by the end of the pod season," he added.
The overall team scores at Monday's match were: Richland 362, Eastmont 388, Wenatchee 388, Hanford 403, Kamiakin 404, Southridge 419, West Valley 421, Chiawana 427, Eisenhower 445, Moses Lake 446, Wa-Hi 474, Kennewick 486, Davis 496, Pasco 523 and Sunnyside incomplete.
Wa-Hi will return to action at a Wild Horse Golf Course invitational on Monday, with a 12:30 p.m. start.
Wa-Hi next pod match will be April 5 at the Yakima Elks course, with a 1 p.m. start.
