Applicants sought for opening on county conservation district


WALLA WALLA -- Applicants are sought for an opening on the Walla Walla County Conservation District board of supervisors.

The five-member board consists of three members who are elected by district residents and two who are appointed by the state Conservation Commission. The opening is for one of the appointed seats, currently held by Pat McConnell, who is seeking another three-year term.

Applicants must be registered to vote in Walla Walla County, live in the district's boundaries and be a landowner, farm operator or land occupant.

District supervisors serve without compensation and meet once a month, although additional meetings can be scheduled. Duties include providing guidance to employees and agencies and directing district activities and projects.
