Dayton loses two in baseball doubleheader at Asotin

DAYTON - Dayton's baseball team dropped two games against Asotin here Saturday.

The first game closed out at 13-0 for Asotin, with the Bulldogs both hitless and scoreless.

The second game was 14-1 Panthers.

"Asotin had way too much razz for us," said Dayton coach Sal Benavides. "They've just got too much speed and hitting for us."

Benavides is playing four eighth graders and 11 freshman on his team, which is making too many errors, he said.

"We made five errors in the first inning of the second game," he said. "I thought we'd be in it - our pitching was pretty good, but just way too many errors."

Benavides said that pitching was solid for the Bulldogs.

"The pitching's there, but we've got to make the plays," he said. "I know we're getting better. As soon as we can reduce errors we'll be a pretty good team."

Dayton hosts St. John-Endicott at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
