TOUCHET - Freshman Megan Reed pitched a complete game victory in the second game to help Touchet split a District 9 Class 1B softball doubleheader with Colton here Saturday.

Colton's Kelsey Moser hurtled a complete game in the Bulldogs' 8-4 first-game win.

Reed responded by scattering seven hits over seven innings, fanning four and walking one to notch the 7-2 win in the nightcap.

The split gives the Indians a 6-1 record on the season.

"(Starting pitcher) Nicole Brown pitched well. She just had that one bad inning in the fifth," Touchet coach Gary Dorman said. "Freshman Stephanie Samuels pitched the last 2 1/2 innings and shut them down. We just couldn't get our offense going. Their pitcher, Kelsey Moser was tough. She struck out 11 of our batters."

Touchet unlimbered the bats in the second game, however, outhitting the Bulldogs 9-7.

Trailing 2-0, Touchet took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning. Brown, Reed and Alex Sasser each knocked in a run in the frame. Reed slammed a triple for her RBI.

In the Indians' four-run fifth inning, Brown slugged a two-run double, plating Zoe Weaver and Cheyenne Kessler. Weaver and Kessler reached base with singles.

After Reed was hit by a pitch to put her on base, Taylor Jaspersen spanked a two-run single for the 7-2 lead that finished the scoring.

"In the first game the kids were lethargic," Dorman said. "They had played a tough game against Mac-Hi on Friday and had a slow start.

"In the second game, the kids refocused and played a wonderful game," Dorman said.

Touchet returns to action with a 4 p.m. single game against Liberty Christian at Touchet on April 6.
