Touchet Valley Unity issues a call to prayer for Wednesday

DAYTON - In conjunction with the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, Touchet Valley Unity has issued a call to prayer at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dayton's First Christian Church, 410 S. Third St.

The theme is "Prayer for Times Like These."

First Presbyterian invites community to pray Thursday

WALLA WALLA - First Presbyterian Church, 325 S. First Ave., will host a community observance of the National Day of Prayer at 12:15 p.m. Thursday.

Church and community leaders will read the Bible and pray for the nation, its judicial system, cities, states, the U.S. military, unity and world leaders.

Participants include John Lohrmann, the Rev. Joel Ley, Dan Johnson, Jack Bailey, Anne Golden, the Rev. Tim Hays, Dixie Ferguson, the Rev. Ron Alexander, Jerry Cummins, the Rev. Ernie Campbell, Marcia Wendler and the Rev. Dave Jones.

Special music will be provided by the Walla Walla University String Quartet under the direction of Lyn Ritz.

St. Paul's Episcopal to present concert Thursday

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 323 Catherine St., will present its First Thursday concert 12:15-12:50 p.m. Thursday. Elizabeth Linxwiler, a Whitman College senior piano performance major, will play works by Bach, Beethoven and Chopin. Donations go to the charity of her choice. Bring lunch. St. Patrick Catholic hosts welcome home on Saturday

Dayton Christian Women's Connection's lunch is May 12

DAYTON - Christian Women's Connection's next luncheon, "Home on the Range," is from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. May 12 in the Youth Building at the Columbia County Fairgrounds in Dayton.

Barbecue will be catered by Charlie Button and Dayton General Hospital. The cost is $9.

The Dayton Days royal court, Kellie Wessels, Madeline Jensen and Darci Hall and adviser, Kelli White will be featured.

Music will be by Betsy Nemitz and her "ranch hands," Darlene, Lois and Jill.
