Dayton drops two as the visitor on its home field

DAYTON - Dayton had to play visitor on its own field here in southeast 2B action Saturday.

Weather forced Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia to move its home doubleheader to Dayton.

The unexpected travel did not affect the Nighthawks, as T-O-R swept the doubleheader, 11-1 and 11-1, limiting the Bulldogs to two hits and two runs on the day.

The opener belonged to T-O-R's Brandon Hovede. Hovede led an 11-hit Nighthawk attack with a home run and pitched a one-hitter while striking out 11.

The night cap was a mirror image of game one for Dayton.

"Hovede pretty much shut us down (in the opener)," Bulldog coach Sal Benavides said. "... We did have great defensive play from Wyatt Frame and Isiah Lambert."

The Bulldogs host DeSales Tuesday.
