TOUCHET - DeSales and Touchet split a softball doubleheader here Friday.

The Irish won the first game, 3-1, and the Indians took the second, 10-7.

DeSales' Ashlyn Lyons pitched a complete game, striking out five girls and giving up six hits. Lyons was also 2-for-3 at the plate, with a double and RBI triple.

"Ashlyn was tremendous (Friday)," DeSales coach Russ Vera said. "She kept her location down and was the star of the game. She is the heart and soul of this team."

DeSales' biggest hit in game one came off Janelle Hartford's bat, a two-out, two-RBI double in the sixth inning. She was knocked in by Lyons' triple.

"Janelle's double was a really big hit," Vera said.

The three runs were all DeSales needed in game one.

The Indians had one run in game one - with a Zoe Weaver two-out double followed by Cheyenne Kessler's RBI double in the bottom of the sixth.

Nicole Brown pitched for Touchet in game one. She gave up two earned runs and threw 10 strikeouts.

The Indians came back to win game two.

The Irish mad eight errors, and Touchet's batters had 10 runs on 10 hits.

"I was pretty pleased with all of our hits in game two," Touchet coach Scott Plucker said. "We hit the ball fairly decent and were more aggressive than in game one."

DeSales jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two, on two bunts, a walk, an RBI single by Lyons and an Amanda Warnick RBI groundout.

Touchet answered with three runs in the bottom of the first, with Kessler hitting an RBI single and Brown getting two RBIs on a double.

The Indians piled on in the second with three more runs. Weaver had a double with two RBIs, and Brown capped Touchet's third-inning scoring with another RBI double.
