Helix victorious over Riverside in dual tennis match Friday

BOARDMAN - Helix downed Riverside 5-1 in a dual tennis match held here on Friday.

The Grizzlies got singles victories from Tylor Bushman, Dakota Brown, and Deidra Nitz.

Bushman and Brown teamed up to snare one doubles victory. Another went to the Grizzly twosome of Benn Fordice and Greg Papineau.

"We're starting to improve," said Helix coach Wayne Miller. "Hopefully we'll play well at the right time. I like what the kids are doing. We still have a lot of work to do. It's been a fun season."

The Grizzlies host their annual invitational on Saturday.

BOYS

SINGLES - Tylor Bushman, Helix, def Josue Garcia, Riverside, 8-0; Dakota Brown, Helix, def Salvador Garcia, Riverside, 8-2.

DOUBLES - Tylor Bushman-Dakota Brown, Helix, def Josue Garcia-Salvador Garcia, Riverside, 8-4; Benn Fordice-Greg Papineau, Helix, def Josue Garcia-Garcia, Riverside, 8-6.

GIRLS

SINGLES - Deidra Nitz, Helix, def Emily Cornelius, Riverside, 8-3; Alondra Ramirez, Riverside, def Jackee Hart, Helix, 8-1.
