TOUCHET - The regular season ended on a positive note for Touchet's softball team. The Indians took two wins off Waitsburg-Prescott here Tuesday.

Touchet won the five-inning, mercy-rule first game, 20-5. The Indians won the second 11-5.

"Those were good wins for us," said Touchet head coach Gary Dorman. "When we're playing a quality team like Waitsburg-Prescott, we're real pleased to get two from them."

Touchet posted 20 hits in the first game.

Starting W-P pitcher Kaz Grende left after the first inning with a bloody nose, and she was replaced with Jennifer Nichols.

"We put the bat on the ball consistently in the first game," Dorman said. "Everyone up and down the line had multiple hits.

"A lot of kids - Megan Cantrell, Megan Reed and Kristen Warner, especially - didn't get cheated on a lot of hits. They hit hard."

W-P also had solid hitting, he said.

"They hit all over the yard," Dorman said.

W-P had two homers in the first game.

"They had two over-the-fence, well-hit home runs," Dorman said.

The homers came off the bats of Hailey Goenen and Megan Withers.

Touchet concludes the regular season at 18-2.

"That's a good record, but it's all out the window now with playoffs," Dorman said.

Waitsburg-Prescott concludes the regular season at Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia with a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Touchet has a week to prepare for a likely Thursday sub-district seeding game for playoffs. The Indians will host either Lacrosse-Washtucna or St. John-Endicott.
