Hot air balloons take to the skies Friday morning above an old red and white barn off Reser Road. In addition to the balloon pilots and visitors in town, about 125 people came to Walla Walla late last week for the Heritage Barn Conference. The event, which ran Thursday and Friday, was organized by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation in association with the National Barn Alliance. Participants engaged in topics from barn architecture and rehabilitation to barns as habitat and heritage tourism. The conference included tours of local barns.
