Lydia (Linda) Palmer

Feb. 5, 1906 - May 6, 2010

A lady with impeccable demeanor and elegance, peacefully passed away of heart failure on May 6, 2010 at 104 years of age.

Linda was born February 5, 1906 in Odessa, Washington. Her parents, William and Mary Hart Gradwohl were
pioneers from German Russia that came to the U.S. and settled in Odessa, Washington. She attended grade school there and finished her education at Walla Walla High School after moving here with her parents.

She married Scotty Palmer in 1924 in Walla Walla. A prominent figure in the Walla Walla valley, Linda her husband, "Scotty" helped initiate the retail clothing business in downtown Walla Walla.

Linda's many hobbies included needlepoint, crocheting, cross-stitch and bridge. One of her most enjoyed treasures was spending time with her family and girlfriends at the casinos. This she learned back
in 1926 at the Walla Walla Country Club as she gambled with the men in the basement.

Linda was predeceased by her husband, Scotty Palmer and brothers, William, Fred Henry Gradwohl. Survived by son, Donald Deanna Palmer; grandchildren, Lynette Palmer-France, Greg Palmer and Jennifer Bishop; great grandchildren, Brant Amanda France of Twin Falls, Idaho and Garrett Palmer of Walla Walla, as well as cousins, Nancy Austin of Walla Walla, Shirley Dement of Tri-cities and dear friend, Mary Denton of Walla Walla.

Our mother, grandmother and great grandmother will be missed, but remembered in our hearts forever. At her request, there will not be a service and burial will be private.
