RICHLAND - DeSales' Ryan Baumgart ran away from the field with a round of 75 on the par-72 Columbia Point course at the Southeast 2B Sub-District match Monday.
Baumgart led four Irish golfers advancing to next Monday's district match on the same course. Of the 46 golfers at the sub-district, 23 advanced to the district. The sub-district and district scores will be combined to determine the 15 advancing to the state tournament.
DeSales' Kyle Konen shot an 83 to advance, shooting six strokes better than he did last week, Irish coach Lon Olson said.
Ben Konen shot a 90, a "phenomenal jump," Olson said.
"His best up to that point had been 102. Last week he shot a 115 (at Columbia Point)," Olson said. "I don't know what the magic was, but it was a great run."
Bryce Scott advanced with 96. Justin Meyer shot a 113 and Mat Zimmerman a 129 and didn't advance for the Irish.
Waitsburg-Prescott's Dakota Baker is headed to district after shooting an 89.
Dayton's Dain Henderson advanced with an 83.
Pomeroy also advanced four to district. Trevor Kobertstein shot an 83, Austin Starin a 92, and Ryan Koberstein and Joel Meyers both carded 94s.
Tanner Feider shot a 110, and Anthony DellaMaggiora had a personal best 114, but did not qualify.
