WENATCHEE - Wa-Hi's girls golfed to a 12th-place finish at the Wenatchee Country Club here Monday.

Eastmont hosted the 15-team Big Nine match. Richland won with a team score of 356, and the Bombers had medalist Kristin Strankman, who shot an 82 on the par 72 course.

Walla Walla shot 475.

Wa-Hi finished 10th in the Big Nine. Richland won the league title.

"It was one of those days we want to forget quickly," said Blue Devils' golf coach Mike Patterson. "It wasn't a lack of effort but things just didn't work out for us. ... we're going to take what we can and practice hard and then forget it."

Wa-Hi's Kylar Boggs was the top finisher for the Blue Devils. She finished in 20th place with 112. Alexa Kaylor, Cassie Patterson and Larissa Mercado all shot 121.

All the teams meet again at noon Monday at the Elks Golf Course Monday for districts.

The league will send 11 girls to the state tournament, which is at Sun Willows in Pasco later this month.

"It'd be really nice to go, because it's in Pasco. We wouldn't have to travel far at all," Patterson said. But, "it's going to be a grind. It'll be a true battle for those 11 spots."
