'College Bound Day' set for May 22 in Tri-Cities

PASCO -- A free event geared at middle and high school students seeking resources on getting into college is being hosted May 22 at Columbia Basic College.

The "College Bound Day" will be from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the college's Gjerde Center, and is sponsored by the College Success Foundation, Columbia Basic College and Washington State University Tri-Cities.

Attendees can participate in college-readiness workshops and attend a youth services and college fair, or apply for the College Bound Scholarship, a statewide program that would cover the cost of tuition to an in-state public or private college for qualifying students.

The program is geared primarily to low-income students who would be the first in their families to attend college. For more information on the College Bound Scholarship program or eligibility, call 888.535.0747. Families may also sign up online at www.hecb.wa.gov/collegebound.
