Mac-Hi baseball team drops Sat. twinbill to LaGrande


LAGRANDE - The Mac-Hi baseball team lost a twinbill to LaGrande, 10-2 and 10-0.

Ryley Croghan pitched a complete game for the Pioneers in game one. Patrick Sheets caught.

Croghan gave up 10 runs, but Mac-Hi made four errors in the game.

The Pioneers scored two runs on three hits to support Croghan.

Austin Goode, Jake Knight and Nick Watts all had hits.

In game two, Mac-Hi was nearly no-hit by the tandem of pitcher Carson Miller and catcher Buck Arnoldos.

Jake Knight broke up the no-hitter with a single for the Pioneers.

Knight also pitched two scoreless innings for Mac-Hi, relieving Randy Romero, who gave up ten runs in three innings.

The Pioneers finished the season with just one win against Greater Oregon League opponents.

The JV players fared a little better for Mac-Hi with four league wins.

Mac-Hi's varsity team plays its season finale at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Stanfield.

"We'll have a lot of talented freshman and sophomores coming back," said Mac-Hi head coach Craig Angell of next season.

"Many of them are going to be playing summer ball either in Babe Ruth or Legion ball. The seniors of this year will also be missed," he said.
