WWCC softball players earn All-American, league honors

WALLA WALLA - Three Warriors put Walla Walla Community College at the top of the 2010 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NWAACC All-Americans team.

Catcher Shaila Rivers, outfielder Natalie Leyland and utility Alexis Bobadilla were all selected. Rivers also received the Diamond Catcher Award.

The Warriors led with those three selections. Wenatchee and Southwestern Oregon had two selections each.

Walla Walla also had some names on the NWAACC softball All-Stars East Region list.

Coach Mike Staudenmaier was selected coach of the year, and Leyland was named MVP.

Pitcher Elayna Van Hess, Rivers, infielder Lyndsey Minnish and Bobadilla were named to the first team.

Infielder Danyelle Hutchison and outfielder Kayla Hutcheson were selected for the second team.
