WALLA WALLA - The Walla Walla Black Sox 14-and-under squad rode strong pitching to two shutout victories over Ephrata at Ray Lane Field Sunday, 10-0 and 8-0.
The Black Sox's Spencer Locati went the first four innings of the opener to get the win. He was relieved by Nate Ortiz for the final inning.
In the nightcap, five Walla Walla pitchers combined for the shutout. Darryl Galloway started and pitched an inning. Eric Klicker, who entered in the second inning with the Black Sox up 6-0, went three innings to get the win.
Adam Mathews, Salomon Arellano and Ali Buentello then each contributed an inning on the mound.
"We were real happy with our pitchers today," Black Sox coach Mike Postlewait said. "All of them were able to locate much better compared to last week."
Walla Walla had nine hits in the opener, but just four in the second game.
"We still need to improve our approach at the plate as we get ready for tournament play," Postlewait said.
