Graduated:

Air Force Airman Derek A. Henderson from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Henderson completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Ronnie Henderson of Waitsburg and grandson of Joanne Russell of Walla Walla. Henderson received an associate degree in 2009 from Walla Walla Community College.

Seaman Sean Day,

from Great Lakes Naval Training Center. He is now at A-school at the Naval Submarine School in Groton, Conn.

Day is a 2004 graduate of Walla Walla High School. He is the son of Lisa Leyendecker and Robert Day, both of Walla Walla.

Transferred:

U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Todd Hergert, to a combat post in Zorek, Afghanistan.

Hergert is a graduate of Kansas State University and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve Officers Training Corp Wildcat Battalion there. He commissioned into the Army in the Finance Branch, detailed to the Field Artillery Branch on Dec. 12, 2008. He is a graduate of the Basic Officer Leaders Course and Field Artillery Basic Officers Course. He was assigned as the Fire Support Officer in D Company, First Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, third Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Divison at Fort Campbell, Ky.

Hergert is the son of Robert W. and Loretta Hergert of Leavenworth, Kan. He is the grandson of Bob and Elaine Hergert, and nephew of Brian and Debi Hergert, all of Walla Walla.

Commissioned

U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Mathew Fazzari. He has been assigned to the First Aviation Training Brigade at Ft. Rucker in Enterprise, Ala. He is a 2005 graduate of DeSales High School and a 2010 graduate of Gonzaga University. He is the son of Greg and Susan Fazzari of Walla Walla. His wife is Tovah Fazarri.
