PRESCOTT -- After a summer without a swimming pool, Prescott-area youngsters and adults can look forward to a wetter 2011, after a $100,000 maintenance and operation levy passed by slightly more than a 2 to 1 margin. The vote was 136 yes to 67 no, or 67 percent approval to 33 percent no.
Two levies failed in 2009, and the park was maintained with volunteer help, but the pool remained closed.
Although the margin of approval was wide, Park and Recreation District board member Joan Tatum was reluctant to comment on the outcome until votes are counted again Friday.
"We learned a lesson last time and are reserving comment until the results are posted later," she said Tuesday night.
However, "we're going to be glad if it passes," she said.
