WALLA WALLA -- Walla Walla Plant Society is having its Second Wednesday program at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Whitman Hall of Science, Room 142.
Whitman biology professor Tim Parker will discuss the newly created Wallula Gap Biological Station at Whitman's Braden Farm.
Vegetation at the site varies from native perennial communities with effectively no invasive species to sites dominated by annual weeds.
This project involves both long-term monitoring of a series of sites distributed among vegetation types and shorter term observational and experimental studies.
Along with improving understanding of invasive species and plant community dynamics, another major goal of this effort is to involve undergraduate students in research.
