WALLA WALLA -- New trial dates have been set for two teenagers accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in June while in a vehicle off Mill Creek Road.
Cager J. York, 18, of 2363 S. Wilbur Ave., now is scheduled for trial Jan. 25 in the adult division of Superior Court on two felony charges. The proceedings initially were set for Oct. 26.
The trial for co-defendant Daijohn A. Gonzalez, 17, of 316 S. 10th Ave., in the court's Juvenile Department has been postponed from Sept. 30 to Nov. 18.
Both have pleaded innocent to charges of second-degree rape and indecent liberties.
Officials said that late on June 4 or early June 5, the girl -- who is acquainted with York and Gonzalez -- was walking to a friend's house near Pioneer Park when she received text messages and a phone call from York. He and Gonzalez picked the girl up in a van and York eventually drove them to what apparently is Harbert Road off Mill Creek, according to a Sheriff's Office report filed in court.
Once parked, York and Gonzalez allegedly raped the girl. They then traveled back to Walla Walla and the girl got out of the van near Isaacs and Wilbur avenues, officials said.
The indecent liberties charge against Gonzalez accuses him of fondling a different 15-year-old girl a few days later near the corner of Colville and Cherry streets in Walla Walla.
The defendants were arrested Aug. 25.
