Lois Joy Mills, 83, passed away at home on Oct. 27, 2010. At her request, there will be no memorial service. Private inurnment was at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Blue Mountain Humane Society through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
Lois was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Jackson, Neb., to Herman and Ellen Marie Nelson Stebner.
The family moved to Walla Walla when she was a young girl, and Lois attended local schools, graduating from Walla Walla High School in 1944. After graduation, Lois worked at Rhodes Music Store. She married Kenneth Edward Mills on June 4, 1944, in Spokane, making their home in Walla Walla. Lois became employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, working in its computer programming and controller offices for a number of years. Mr. Mills died in 1985.
Lois loved animals, helping stray cats and dogs whenever there was a need. She was a very giving person and enjoyed making cross stitch and quilts, which she often gave as gifts.
Lois is survived by her cat, Joker; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
