DAYTON - DeSales lost two volleyball matches and finished its season in 2B District action Saturday.
"It was a good, strong finish for the girls and they definitely have nothing to hang their heads about," said DeSales head coach Lori Blanc. DeSales finished 6-6 in league play.
The Irish lost to Dayton in five sets, 16-25, 25-15, 17-25, 25-20 and 10-15.
Abby Larreau led the Irish with 12 kills, Stephanie Ferrel had 10, senior Megan Moberg had 10, Annie Higgins had eight and Alex Buley had two. Chantel Blanc had 33 assists for the Irish.
Dayton and DeSales are both strong defensive teams, Blanc said.
"We knew that one would be tough and a good defensive battle," she said.
DeSales lost to Liberty Christian in the final loser-out game in four sets, falling 16-25,25-21, 18-25 and 21-25.
Larreau had 12 kills, Higgins had seven, Ferrel had five, Moberg had three, Buley two and Blanc had 31 assists.
"Liberty beat us twice in the regular season but we thought we should've been able to make it closer than we did," Blanc said. "We played them back-to-back after a five-set match, so that was tought.
Moberg is the lone senior on the team.
"She's been with the program for four years," Blanc said. "She's always reliable and consistent and she's a great teammate."
