WALLA WALLA - Margo Hickman raised her NWAACC-leading goal total to 26 by tallying five times Saturday afternoon to lead defending champion and No. 1-ranked Walla Walla Community College to an 8-0 victory over Wenatchee Valley in the East Region women's soccer finale for both schools on the WWCC pitch.
The Warriors, who clinched the program's eighth straight East Region title last weekend, finished the regular season 13-0-2 in league play and will take a 17-0-2 overall record into an NWAACC quarterfinal match next Saturday at WWCC.
Both the time and opponent have yet to be determined.
Wenatchee Valley battled the heavily-favored Warriors on even terms for the first 20 minutes on Saturday before Marianne Johnson broke the ice from point-blank range in the 22nd minute.
Hickman busted the match open with three goals over a seven-minute stretch late in the first half. She scored her first goal at 27:05, her second at the 32:42 mark, and booted her third with 33:58 gone in the opening frame.
The onslaught continued in the second half. Hickman scored her fourth goal just 30 seconds into half two and contributed her fifth at 62:44.
Shae Yuma closed out the scoring with a pair of boots - at 64:18 and 68:35, respectively.
