Providence St. Mary to offer view through the looking glass

WALLA WALLA -- Providence St. Mary Medical Center will offer a chance to see "cool" images from inside the human body, said Kathleen Obenland, spokeswoman.

On Thursday, to celebrate National Radiologic Technologist Week, the hospital will offer guided tours of the advanced imaging technology used at St. Mary, from 4-6 p.m.

Presentation will include: A 64-slice CT, which has improved speed and can create images using significantly less radiation than traditional CTs; new 3-Tesla MRI with a larger opening that can accommodate larger individuals, and also is less likely to cause feelings of claustrophobia; a new women's health unit that brings together into one private area mammography, breast ultrasound, stereotactic breast biopsies and Dexa, a machine used to measure bone density.

Cookies, coffee and punch will be served.
