John Lesko

John Lesko passed away Nov. 8, 2010, after his courageous battle with cancer.

John was born to Joseph and Mary (Domalik) Lesko on June 13, 1937, in West Point, Ohio, where he lived until he joined the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean War and was stationed at Camp Hanford from 1954-1957.

On Dec. 29, 1957, he married Arlene (Elia) Lesko and moved to Walla Walla where they raised their three children, Debbie Vinti (Tom ) and John Lesko, Jr. (Rosalie) of Walla Walla and Jim Lesko of Pendleton. John worked at Healy's Mobil Gas Station and at Tum-A-Lum Lumber of Walla Walla and Pendleton where he worked as assistant manager until his retirement in 1999. John enjoyed the outdoors, completing home projects and spending time with his family, and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed the daily visits by his grandsons Bailey and Jack.

He is survived by his wife at home; his three children; and five grandchildren, Blake, Logan, Molli, Bailey and Jack Lesko; his two brothers, Walter Lesko of Arizona and Albert Lesko of Ohio; his five sisters, Anna Plunkett of Ohio, Mary Jane Schaaf of New Jersey, Caroline Grace of Ohio, Sandy Corritore of New Jersey, and Joannie Kemats of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews, including his special nephew, Tim Plunkett.

A private family graveside will take place at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions in John's name may be made to Walla Walla Catholic Schools, Walla Walla Community Hospice, or Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
