Marvyl Lenore Kinzer, age 93, passed away Nov. 9, 2010, at Eagle Meadows Retirement Center.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla with the Rev. Robin Peterson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice, Children's Hospital of Seattle or charity of choice through the funeral home.
Marvyl was born on Nov. 29, 1916, in Lakota, N.D., to Earl & Margaret McKenzie Duckworth. They moved to Walla Walla two years later. She attended Sharpstein and Wa-Hi and graduated from Mac-Hi in 1936.
Marvyl and Miles L. Kinzer were married Dec. 15, 1938, in Walla Walla. They had a daughter, Leeanne Rose of Hillsboro, Ore., and a son, Bud Kinzer of Walla Walla.
She is survived by her husband, her two children, a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Kinzer; a sister, Donna Carlson of Milton-Freewater; granddaughters Julie Kinzer of Spokane and Laura Weldon of Sherwood, Ore.; and grandsons Bryan Rose of Portland, Gregg Kinzer of Sammamish, Wash., and Brad Kinzer of Springfield, Ore.; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Amy Keith, Peggy Dehut and Marcia Duckworth; a brother Eldon Duckworth; and a son-in-law, George Rose.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with family. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, College Place Homemaker Club, was a 4-H Leader for 15 years and volunteered at the Senior Center. She was also active in the College Place Schools PTA.
