Looking like the afterburner from a rocket, the setting sun ignites the billowing dust from an SUV with brilliant light as it speeds along graveled county roads west of Walla Walla. Autumn has held its warm color through October and early November with a continued spattering of sunny days and warm temps that have---so far---kept the frost and icy roads at bay with winter a little over a month away.
