Sharon Lee Walden, age 68, passed away from lung cancer at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla on Nov. 15, 2010, with her children by her side.
Sharon was born Feb. 12, 1942, to Margaret and Charles Beliveau from Bemidji, Minn. She attended Bemidji High School where she was a homecoming queen, cheerleader and a member of the senior class council. She graduated in 1960, and just celebrated her 50th class reunion.
She married Darrel Walden from Bemidji in 1964 and then moved to Seattle. They then moved to Walla Walla in 1972. They shared 41 years of marriage and raised two children, Daron Walden, 38, of Walla Walla, and Sharel Walden-Cross, 35, of Houston.
Through her 35 years in the banking industry, she created many friendships and was well respected by her peers. Sharon excelled at teaching others, a hard worker and an excellent leader. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed spending time and providing for her family, reading, her love for the outdoors, frequent trips to the cabin and snowmobiling. Sharon was well known for her opening her arms and heart to everyone. She spent time to listen to others and offer words of wisdom. She valued her family and cherished the memories they created together. She dearly loved her husband and children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel Walden; mother, Margaret Markel; father, Charles Beliveau; and stepfather, Charlie Markel. She is survived by a son, Daron Walden; a daughter, Sharel Walden-Cross; four sisters, Yvonne Barry, Ileine Devries, Lorraine Johnson and Millie Ashton; and a brother, Elroy Beliveau.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice through the funeral home.
