Walla Walla Symphony will perform free concert tonight

The Walla Walla Symphony will present an informal, free concert for families at 7 tonight in Cordiner Hall on the Whitman College campus.

The admission fee is a non-perishable food item per person. "Foodraising" event items will be donated to local food banks.

Maestro Yaacov Bergman conducts "Mr. Smith's Composition," by Gregory Smith, about how a composer writes a piece of music.

The performance is narrated by Kevin Loomer. Composer Gwyneth Walker's new piece, "Blessings From the Children," will be performed by the symphony and the Rogers Adventist School third- through sixth-grade Singing Scholars, directed by Terry Koch.

Dress is casual or "come as you are." The concert is sponsored by Key Technology, Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, Whitman College, Milton-Freewater Area Foundation, Helen Logan-Schneider and Providence St. Mary Medical Center.
