Gerald (Gary) Tiland Brumback, 59, of Richland, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be missed.

Gary was born Dec. 30, 1950, at St. Mary's Hospital in Walla Walla. He grew up attending Washington Elementary, Garrison Jr. High and Wa-Hi where he played varsity football, baseball and basketball. He also served as a class officer(s) and was elected to Homecoming and Senior Ball Court(s). He graduated from Spokane Falls Community College where he played football and baseball and later attended University of Washington in Seattle. He has resided in Richland for the past 30 years where he managed and owned Music Unlimited. He mentored his nephews Justin and Nicholas, numerous employees and students throughout his career. He was respected and beloved by all his family, friends, co-workers and students.

He is survived by his three siblings, Sherry and husband Bob Reese of Pendleton, Gib and wife Susan Brumback of Spokane, and Terry (Tab) Pfeiffer of Seattle; four nephews, Adam Reese, Justin Pfeiffer, Nicholas and Jason Brumback; seven nieces, Jennifer Reese Grover, Ne'cole Pfeiffer King, Natasha Pfeiffer Bishop, Ashley Brumback Rounsley, Stacey Reese Cohn, Shelley Reese Johnson and Erin Brumback Uberuaga; and four grandnephews and nine grandnieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents Don (1995) Tye (1999) Brumback of Walla Walla.

The "Celebration of Gary's Life" will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at the Clarion Motel on George Washington Way in Richland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tri-City Chapter of the Washington State Music Teachers Association. Funds will be used to purchase a grand piano, in Gary's honor, for the newly remodeled Richland Public Library.
