In case you didn't happen to notice, there was a lot of fun being had at the YMCA recently at the annual United Way Family Fun Day Campaign Kickoff.
Nearly 600 people came out to enjoy an afternoon of family fun. Each year United Way, our partner agencies, the Early Learning Coalition and dozens of volunteers come together to put on this free community event. It takes some effort to make it happen, so it's extremely satisfying to see so many people turn out and enjoy themselves.
As was clearly evident by the many active smiling faces.
I'd like to acknowledge all the agencies and volunteers who helped make this fun day happen -- and a special nod to the Y for hosting the event. I'd also like to acknowledge the U-B for donating the wonderful full-page ad promoting the start of our campaign and recognizing some of our very generous contributors. It's important that people know that the U-B and other media partners donate all our advertising. This, along with many other in-kind donations from local businesses, allows us to keep our overhead low. Which, in-turn, provides more dollars to go directly to essential local programs and services -- building strong healthy kids, families and communities.
May I conclude by stating the obvious -- people in the Walla Walla Valley really know how to Live United! Oh, and for all you social networkers, you can now follow us on Facebook.
