DAYTON - Dayton's volleyball team rolled to a straight-set home win against Waitsburg-Prescott Wednesday, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19.
The Bulldogs were led by the nine kills, six assists and seven aces from Kayla Turner, who also went 16-for-16 at the service line. Amanda Melton posted six kills and three blocks, while McKayla Bickelhaupt had five kills and seven digs.
"We played well together," said Dayton head coach Shannon Turner. "We played consistant all night and this is the kind of night we can build on."
Shelby Smith went 12-for-13 at the service line and Sarah Mascall was 13-for-13. Nicole Lambert was the Bulldogs' digs leader with 10, while Darci Hall had 13 assists.
Waitsburg-Prescott was led by eight kills from Genesis Pearson and seven more from Ronnie Hulce, while Megan Withers notched four finishes.
"I thought we'd come out stronger," said W-P head coach Jessie Buehler. "I'm a little unsatisfied with how laid back we were because the first set was very close, so we could have taken that and set a better tone."
Kayla Huxoll added 15 assists and Krystal Harris had eight digs.
Waitsburg-Prescott now stands at 2-5 on the year in league play, while Dayton is 4-3. Both teams' next contest is against Asotin with the Bulldogs welcoming them on Thursday, while W-P hosts the Panthers on Tuesday.
