WALLA WALLA - Walla Walla Valley Academy lost a four-set decision to Asotin Tuesday.
The Panthers topped the Knights in four close sets, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-19. WWVA won the second seet, 25-23.
Sandy Avalos led the Knights with 15 digs. Bri Leen had 11 kills, Kelsie Schafer had 10 kills, Kristi Buell had 15 assists and Melissa McCrery and Amanda Birney had two blocks apiece.
JaLisa Jose led the Panthers with 17 kills and 23 digs, Cheyanne Ausman had 23 digs and McKayla Swearingen had six blocks.
"This is the start of a lot of away matches this month, and we struggled to find our rythm during the game after the trip," said WWVA head coach Scott Schafer. "Asotin is an undefeated team in our league and was too much for us last night with our inconsistent play in serving-receiving, as well as in our transition game."
The Knights play in the Fall Classic Tournament at Walla Walla University beginning at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
