George and Anne Gwinn of Walla Walla celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 26.
The couple met at Walla Walla High School. They married Sept. 26, 1940. Anne's maiden name is Meiners.
George taught in Washington and Oregon schools and at U.S. Air Force Dependents Schools in Morocco and Germany. He retired in 1981. He is a member of the Oregon Retired Teachers Association. He enjoys photography, wood working, rock hounding and camping.
Anne was secretary to the Wallowa superintendent of schools and retired in 1981. She enjoys sewing, watercolor painting and camping.
The couple have two daughters, Georganna Sitton and Sherry Cook, both of Walla Walla; two sons, Harris Gwinn of Oregon City, Ore., and the late Terry Gwinn; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
