Vandals damage Dayton stationmaster statue

DAYTON -- A new statue in the city's historic district was vandalized over the weekend.

"The Stationmaster and his Dog" was damaged when some type of liquid was poured on its top and the eyeglasses of the figure damaged, according to police reports. The vandalism was reported at 3:18 p.m. Saturday.

The liquid was washed off but spots remained on the statue, which is located at 222 E. Commercial Ave. Members with the Dayton Historic Depot were consulting with a foundry to repair the statue, police said.
