WALLA WALLA -- A two-day workshop will be offered at Walla Walla Community College on how to teach to the YouTube generation.

"Cinema Literacy for Educators" will run Oct. 15 from 5:30-8:30 p.m., with dinner provided, and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 16. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch for the final day.

The class is being taught by Jeffrey Townsend, a 20-year veteran of the motion picture and television industry. The workshop is designed to teach educators how to understand a generation that is increasingly turning to media, and particularly video, as a form of entertainment but also expression. The class will focus on how to bridge the divide and regard the video medium as a resource.
