WALLA WALLA -- A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in Walla Walla County Superior Court seeking monetary damages stemming from a fatality traffic collision in the western part of the county three years ago.

Family members of the victim, Carlos Cruz Camargo, claim the driver of a wood chipper truck owned by Boise Cascade LLC was negligent when the vehicle struck a motorized foot scooter on which Camargo was riding.

The court complaint says Camargo died Oct. 13, 2007, from injuries he suffered early that morning on U.S. Highway 12 in or near Burbank when the truck struck him from behind just east of the Pasco/Burbank bridge. Camargo was on the shoulder of the highway while returning home from Pasco to Burbank, according to the suit.

The driver, identified as Bryan C. Hancock, and Boise Cascade LLC are listed as defendants in the suit filed Tuesday. The plaintiffs are Camargo's father, Juan Camargo Lopez, wife Alicia Hernandez Lopez and daughter Wendy Alinder Camargo Hernandez.

The suit is asking for an unspecified amount of money.
