Joseph A. Truax, 81 of Milton-Freewater died Oct. 7, 2010, at the Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Canyon City, Ore. Inurnment will follow at the Canyon City Cemetery. Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St, Milton-Freewater is in charge of arrangements. One of two children, Joe was born Jan. 9, 1929, in Nampa, Idaho. He was the son of Francis and Grace Cook Truax. The family lived in various locations and he later graduated from Roseville High School in Roseville, Calif. He married his high school sweetheart, Patsy G. Benoit, in Roseville on Feb. 14, 1949. They lived in Seneca, Ore., and later in Hines, Ore. He worked for Edward Hines in the lumber business most of his adult life. After their retirement Mr. and Mrs. Truax moved to Milton-Freewater in 2003 to be near their family. Mrs. Truax preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2005.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Randy Reese of Milton-Freewater, Jody and Mike Ward of Payette, Idaho; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Debbie Truax of Milton-Freewater; brother,
Don Truax of West Linn, Ore; five grandchildren, Amy Evey, Erin Ward, Rhiannon Stallings, Sara Weikel and Kyle Truax; three great-grandchildren, McKenna Stallings, Hailey Stallings and Asher Evey.
