WAITSBURG - Walla Walla Valley Academy won a four-set match, 25-16, 20-25, 25,20, 25-20 against Waitsubrug-Prescott Thursday night to move to 5-4 on the season.
Bri Leen led the WWVA charge with seven blocks and nine kills, while Sonrisa Wagner led the squad with 35 digs.
"We've been fighting off a lot of sickness as far as having to deal with a lot of girls fighting stuff off," said WWVA head coach Scott Schafer. "I'm proud that the girls were able to work through this.
Amanda Burney added four aces on a 22-for-22 serving night, and Brooklyn Larson led the team with 16 digs for WWVA.
W-P was led by nine kills from Ronnie Hulce, seven kills and seven blocks by Genesis Pearson and 18 assists from Kayla Huxoll.
"We played with a lot of heart," said W-P head coach Jessie Buehler. "We had to play some players out of position, I can be an intense coach, but I never had to be like that with this team. They all handled their rolls very well."
WWVA will take the weekend off before heading to Liberty Christian on Tuesday, while W-P will gear up for a Tuesday match against DeSales.
