POMEROY - Waitsburg-Prescott runners took the top two prizes in a cross country meet Tuesday.
Isabel Benito topped the girls in 22:53.7 and Seth Deal won in the boy's results, 17:16.7.
Deal's time may have set a course record, according to Pomeroy coach Marcus Pederson. The No. 2 boy came in at 17:55.6.
"Both Deal and Isabel took command of their races early and both won by a huge margin," said W-P coach Joanna Lanning. "They were never challenged for the top spot. This will be the district course, so it was a great trial run."
Districts are Oct. 29.
Saint John-Endicott's Erin Schuster was second for the girls in 23:56.5, more than a minute behind Benito.
W-P's Anjelica Bedolla finished 12th in 29:35.5. Nick Carpenter was fifth for the boys in 18:50.6, Erik Sandoval was 11th in 20:26.3 and Ben Moser was 22nd in 21:54.4.
W-P hosts its home meet Tuesday. The meet includes most league schools.
