ONTARIO, Ore. - Mac-Hi's girls' soccer team lost its first game of the season Saturday.
The Pioneers (7-1-2) fell to Ontario, 3-2, despite two second-half goals by Beca Betts and Belen Betancourt. But the early 3-0 hole proved too much to overcome as time expired.
The Pioneers still outshot Ontario 21-10.
"They got three early first half goals on us," said Mac-Hi coach Martin Martinez. "But we couldn't catch up. We had a slow first half and the second half was all us.
"We had many other shots that barely went by sidebars, kicked right to the goalie and we just couldn't take advantage," Martinez finished.
Mac-Hi is in second place in the Greater Oregon League, standing at 2-1-1. LaGrande leads the league, 4-1, with its only loss coming against Mac-Hi.
The Pioneers host Baker at 4 p.m. Tuesday and play at home against LaGrande at 2 p.m. Thursday.
